The 1st annual Orlando Water Polo Masters “Napa-style” Masters Tournament will be
held on Saturday/Sunday, January 29-30, 2011 at the YMCA Aquatic Center (8422
International Drive, Orlando, FL). The tournament is open to men 30+ and women 25+
and will be limited to 100+/- players.

You enter as an individual and will be placed on a team. This is done to create
competitive match ups with mixed ages and genders on a team. It also allows you to play
some polo and make some new friends in the water polo world. The tournament was
created to invite you to visit the Orlando area to play some masters water polo, enjoy the
amusement parks and attractions, and enjoy a bit of a Florida winter.
Teams of 10 players will play games on both Saturday and Sunday. The tournament is
expected to end by 6 pm on Saturday, and 4 pm on Sunday.
There will be a social BBQ following play on Saturday evening at the Orlando Brewing
Company (www.orlandobrewing.com). A BBQ dinner will be included with registration
for all players and will include 2 drink tickets. BBQ dinner for significant others, friends,
and family will be available for advance purchase.
TOURNAMENT DETAILS:
AGE GROUP: men 30 and over, women 25 and over (we are not checking IDs). All
players MUST be registered with USA Water Polo for the tournament year (this is not a
loose requirement).
DATE: Saturday/Sunday, January 29-30, 2011
LOCATION: YMCA Aquatic Center, 8422 International Drive, Orlando, Florida 32819;
www.aquaticcenterymca.com, Phone: 407-363-1911. The YMCA Aquatic Center is the
home of Orlando Water Polo and YCF Swimming and Diving.
TEAMS: Teams will be limited to 10 players each. Team assignments will be made by
the organizing committee.
MATCHES: Games will be played in a 8-lane, 25 meter dive well of the YMCA
Aquatic Center. All matches will be 4 quarters of 7 minutes each with one 30-second
time-out, and 1- minute between quarters and half. Ties will go into an immediate
untimed “sudden death” overtime with the first team scoring declared the winner. All players will receive playing time in all games. Individual players are responsible for their own playing time.
WEATHER: Winter weather in Orlando can vary. It all depends on whether the tropical
or Artic weather systems are active. Please check your favorite weather forecast for
weather in the area that weekend. To be sure, Orlando will be warmer than most other
parts of the country! Florida winters are very enjoyable, … usually.
ENTRY FEE: $55 per player which includes the water polo and social BBQ with 2
drink tickets. Extra BBQ tickets for friends, spouses, and family will be available for

BBQ SOCIAL: A barbeque social dinner will be held at Orlando Brewing
(www.orlandobrewing.com). BBQ is included with the registration for all players and
includes two drink tickets. Extra BBQ tickets are available for advance purchase (see
entry form). Brewery tours will be available as will be happy hour pricing on Orlando
Brewing potables for all water polo people.
LODGING: Orlando has a wide range of lodging options in the International Drive area
around the YMCA Aquatic Center that should meet a variety of needs and budgets. The
amusement parks are extremely close to the YMCA Aquatic Center. And downtown
Orlando has multiple lodging options as well.

The purpose of this event is to promote masters water polo at the local, regional, and
national levels in a fun, informal, and social atmosphere. It is hoped that this event will reach out to those master athletes currently sidelined from the sport and to encourage the formation of active, competitive masters age-group teams. This event is styled off of the successful annual Napa Valley Masters Water Polo masters tournament - so much thanks to them and USWP for their support in enabling this event!
